The workshop idea

The idea is a two-part workshop centred around local cultural heritage sites in Kemiönsaari / Kimitoön. Participants learn how to add and improve content. If they want they can bring their own pictures to the second meeting and take part in the WLM contest in autumn 2025. I am looking for co-organizers from the local WP community! Please don't hesitate to get in touch!

Part I of the workshop (February 2025)

• introduction to editing Wikipedia
• introduction to Wikimedia Commons and Wiki Loves Monuments
• focus on local cultural heritage sites in Kemiö island -> review existing articles and pictures about them, identify missing pieces of information, missing articles, and photos. Start improving them.
• Show the participants possibilities of contribution, where to find help.

In between, the participants can continue to work on the above content. They should set out on their own and take pictures of local monuments and other heritage sites.

Part II of the workshop (September 2025)

• come back to the articles together, review them
• review the photos the participants took of local cultural heritage sites since February
• upload a selection for the Wiki Loves Monument contest
