Michael Joyce

Michael Joyce (s. 1945) on yhdysvaltalainen kirjailija, kirjallisuudentutkija ja digitaalisen kirjallisuuden pioneeri. Hän työskentelee Vassar Collegessa.

Joyce tunnetaan parhaiten vuonna 1986 ilmestyneestä hypertekstiteoksestaan Afternoon, a Story. Se on kirjoitettu Storyspace-ohjelmalla, jonka Joyce on tehnyt yhdessä John B. Smithin ja Jay David Bolterin kanssa. Afternoon, a Story -teosta pidetään digitaalisen kirjallisuuden läpimurtoteoksena. Seuraavat hypertekstiteokset Twelve blue ja Twilight, a symphony ilmestyivät molemmat vuonna 1996. Fiktion ja digitaalisessa muodossa ilmestyneiden tekstien ohella Joyce on kirjoittanut myös teoreettisia teoksia, kuten esimerkiksi Of Two Minds: Hypertext Pedagogy and Poetics (1995) ja Othermindedness: the emergence of network culture (2000).

Joyce kuuluu James Joycen Odysseuksen hypermediaversion toimittajakuntaan. Vuosina 2000–2001 hän toimi myös ELO:n (Electronic Literature Organization) jäsenenä.
