Edward Caird

Edward Caird

Edward Caird (23. maaliskuuta 1835 Greenock, Skotlanti – 1. marraskuuta 1908) oli skotlantilainen filosofi. Caird opiskeli Glasgow'n ja Oxfordin yliopistoissa. Vuonna 1866 hänet nimitettiin Glasgow'n yliopiston moraalifilosofian professoriksi. Hän toimi virassa vuoteen 1893. Tuolloin hänestä tuli Balliol Collegen esimies. Hän jäi eläkkeelle vuonna 1907.

Edward Caird oli teologi John Cairdin nuorempi veli. Kummatkin kuuluivat uushegeliläisiin brittiläisiin idealisteihin. Caird luennoi Gifford-luennot vuosina 1890−1892 ja 1900−1902.
