M. Scott Peck

Morgan Scott Peck (22. toukokuuta 1936 – 25. syyskuuta 2005) oli yhdysvaltalainen psykiatri, joka tuli kuuluisaksi self help -terapiakirjoistaan. Hän kuoli syyskuussa 2005 keuhkosyöpään 69-vuotiaana.

Hänen kuuluisin teoksensa oli The Road Less Travelled, joka julkaistiin vuonna 1978. Se merkitsi 1930-luvun lamakauden luoman kysynnän jälkeen itsehoitokirjallisuuden uutta alkua. Kirjaa ja sen jatko-osia myytiin Yhdysvalloissa viisi miljoonaa kappaletta. Kirja ylsi The New York Timesin bestseller-listalle vuonna 1983 ja pysyi siellä 13 vuotta.

Peckin näkemys on kognitiivista terapiaa: "Elämä on vaikeaa." Ongelmia ei pidä välttää vaan pyrkiä ratkaisemaan. Tämän hyväksymisen avuksi Peck suosittelee uskoa korkeampaan voimaan. Peck kääntyi kristinuskoon keski-ikäisenä. Kirjoissaan hän ei nimeä uskonsa kohdetta, josta syystä muun muassa Anonyymit alkoholistit -seurojen kävijöiden parissa, ainakin Yhdysvalloissa, kirja on ollut suosittu.
